Roll Play Café
My quest for board-games led to me to an absolute darling of a shop situated above the BMV bookstore on Yonge-Edward. There, I satiated my thirst for friendly competition and board-games with my usual partners in crime.
Opened in September 2013, Roll Play Café has now been added to the scene as a cool new hangout. Don't let the narrow, dimly-lit staircase fool you. Grab yourself a seat in one of the booths, sofas or tables in this bright and spacious establishment. Quirky murals and posters also spice up the interior with their vivid colours. Once you step in, you'll find yourself being transported to a happy place.

Shelves of games panel the wall at the far end of the wall. There's a fairly decent selection of games, so make yourselves at home 'cos you know you'll be there for a long time! (; Everyone loves alphabet soup...but perhaps not so much in game form? Put your vocabulary and crossword skills to the test with Alphabet Dice. Risk-taking trivia lovers will get a kick out of Eye-Know. It's a gambling of knowledge, so prepare to raise the stakes and start betting. Killer Bunnies & the Quest for the Magic Carrot; Pick-a-Pig, Click Clack Lumberjack are just other kick-starter suggestions you could try out. (Don't these names just amuse you so? It's the main reason I zeroed in on these in the first place!)
Savoury or sweet....whatever your preference, you're in for a treat! Indulge yourself in the decadence of their dessert array, or satisfy your tummy with their selection of sandwiches, pizzas and salads etc. And of course, what's a café without coffee or tea? Between the 3 of us, my friends and I have tried the raspberry truffle latte, a London Fog, an Affogato, a Romeo & Juliet black tea (ain't that dreamy sounding?) as well as a peach summer tea. I know, I know...we're such pigs. 'Nuff said. Anyhooooo, for those craving an extra buzz, this place does offer beer or wine as well.

| ps. Their caramel pudding is bound to satisfy. Simple, yet delectable. Plus, strawberries, banana & chocolate? Who could go wrong with a classic combination like that?! |
For the price of $10 per 2 hours, you get to make yourselves right at home in the café. This flat rate of $10 gives you free reign to all the games in the store, and includes menu items as well.
It opens from 11am - 12am on Sunday-Wednesday, and from 11am - 1am on Thursday-Saturday.
So come on! Give it a shot! Time to trade in that Friday night pub crawl for an evening of friendly competition at the many cafés. And may the odds be ever in your favour.
